Get Up Again

My grandson turned one year old this year. Observing a child grow from infant to toddler is pretty amazing.  It is also amusing.  They are curious and will try almost anything without fear.  They develop from having little control of their body limbs, to holding their head up, sitting up, rolling over, crawling, standing and walking.  Let’s not forget the running. Through the entire process, they continue to try over and over again until they accomplish what they set out to do.  If at first they don’t succeed, they try again.  When they fall, they get up again. There is no second thought about it.  They just keep trying.  Most times, they learn through exploration vs. someone actually teaching them.  They are determined that they will learn to do what others around them are doing.  It’s that simple.

As we get older, we sometimes lose sight of this concept.  When a personal set back in life takes place, it is easy to stop and give up.  Yet it is just as easy to fall and get up again. We must never forget that when we fall, we can always get up again.   Love is meant for us to learn.  It is about experiencing life, building on the lessons learned, and getting up again and again and again. It is a process that brings us closer to evolving in our purpose,   placing us in situations to stretch us and bring about new strengths, gifts and talents.

Love is that spiritual pick me up that lifts you up each and every time you stumble and fall.  Love is faith in knowing that you can, should and will get up again.

Love always. Love daily. 365 Love. TM

Alright

I consider myself to be very positive and it is rare that I let something get me down for an extended period of time.  When you are growing in love, challenges are presented to test your faith.  They are life lessons to help you learn and grow.  Just when you get in a comfort zone, things shake themselves up.  I know this, but in the midst of constant, consistent issues, I lost sight of it along the way.

I work in Information Technology (IT) where there happened to be a number of technology incidents taking place during April and May 2013.  While I am used to an issue here and there, never in the history of my employment have I experienced this many back to back.  Those problems required mitigation activities, executive briefings, and meeting, after meeting, after meeting.

My mother reminded me that “this too shall pass.”  Everything was going to be alright.  She shared a pastor’s message for us to be glad when we are faced with problems as they are designed to help us grow and prosper.  We should welcome problems by saying, “Bring it on!”  I don’t particularly like problems in the work environment.  I know this.  After thinking about those comments, I realize that the issues were designed for me to face what I liked the least, problems.  They were designed to make me stronger in areas where I was weak. They were designed for me to learn. So, as time progressed, I walked in the office each day, ready to face them head on.  I knew that everything was going to be alright. I had faith that everything was going to be alright.  And it was.  I could handle it and had a great team to help me in the process. I reminded myself of love and its purpose for us to continually learn from every life situation.  Love always. Love daily. 365 Love. TM

Living Proof

I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to speak at engagements that allow me to share my book with others through my story.  I often start out by stating that, “I am not an expert on love.  However, I can honestly say that I am a person who has experienced love.  And I continue to learn more about it and experience it every day.”  I have been up and down and back up again.  My “up” is now more often and consistent since I found love.  I am living proof that love brings about positive change.

I reflect on my past and present relationships.  This includes my relationship with God and the relationship with myself.  It also includes my relationship with others – romantic, charitable, brotherly and family.   As I evolved in the type of relationships I had in my life – one’s that were more positive, one’s that were uplifting, one’s that were spiritual, one’s that were out of true love – I evolved as a person.  I have grown more since I learned more about the true meaning of love, where it comes from and what it possesses.  Because we are all meant to love, when we allow love to enter our lives, we become happier more loving people. We must first realize that God is love and love is good.  My relationship with God has changed me.  The relationship I have with loving myself has changed me.  My relationship with others has changed me.  I experience joy in each and every day. And my joy is living proof that love exists and love brings peace and happiness in your life.  It was a journey.  One that I was destined to take.  It took time.  It did not happen overnight.  It will not happen overnight for you.  But, it can happen.  It does happen.  It did happen.  I am living proof. Love always. Love daily. 365 Love. TM
